Producers of the highly popular show American Idol are thinking about firing judge Paula Abdul, one of the most boring TV presences in later years. Her position is threatened by her difficult behavior, her emotional outbursts and the lack of criticism she displays in every show. More than that, an increasing number of viewers are starting to comment on Paula's "constantly high on something" appearance.
Regardless of the quality of the contestant's performance, Abdul stubbornly uses the same two sentences over and over again: "You are a star" and "What I Like about you is…". This mellow attitude and the lack of professional input are even more obvious in comparison to Simon Cowell's well - known acid remarks and high standards.
Since her presence is becoming more and more inconsequential, the show's producers are thinking seriously of finding a replacement, someone more critical or at least someone younger that would have much more success in attracting the audience. Among the candidates for Abdul's job are Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson.
A source tells US Weekly: "Paula was being very difficult. She was crying all the time and arriving late for meetings." About the replacement: "They liked Jessica (Simpson) a lot. And some were pushing for Britney (Spears)."
