Following months of speculation that she was either going back on American Idol or doing Simon Cowell’s US X Factor, Paula Abdul’s new gig has just been announced: she’s the lead judge on a new CBS reality show, Live to Dance.

Fans know that, before she launched a career in pop, Paula was head cheerleader for the Lakers, which helped her make a very solid name for herself as choreographer.

As such, she’s the right person to lead the panel of judges for the new dance-focused reality show, which, as per reports, is gunning for So You Think You Can Dance.

According to the press release sent out by the network (via Perez Hilton), the new series will have Andrew Günsberg as host. Günsberg’s previous work includes hosting the Australian Idol.

The other two judges on the panel are Travis Payne (from Michael Jackson’s “This Is It”) and Kimberly Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls.

Abdul is not only the lead expert on the show and the mentor of the contestants, since she’ll also executive produce the new series.

“Live to Dance represents one of the most inclusive talent searches on television, searching for dancers with raw ability from any age group across the nation performing either solo or in a group,” the press release says of the new show.

The first casting call for the show took place yesterday, October 14 in NYC; a second one is scheduled for October 28 in Los Angeles, at a location that will be announced at a later date. “The most talented dancers who receive call backs will be asked to attend another round of auditions at the series’ ‘Dance Domes’ in New York and Los Angeles, which will be held on the weekends following the open casting call dates,” the press release further says.

Further details are not available right now, but all dancers interested in taking part in the show should consult with the official CBS webpage.
