The Nissan Skyline Paul Walker drove in "Fast & Furious" is being sold at auction

After last week Paul Walker was finally laid to rest in an emotional service attended by family and friends, news has emerged that the car he drove in the 4th installment of “Fast & Furious,” a heavily modified Nissan Skyline GT-R, is being auctioned off.

The car now belongs to a collector in Germany who is looking to capitalize on the sudden rise in interest for the actor and his life, following his sudden death. While Paul was alive, the car was listed at €300,000 ($412,410), but after the actor's demise, the price has more than tripled.

Paul was never an owner of the car he used in the movie, altough at some point in time he confessed in an interview that he found the Nissan to be one of the most enjoyable cars he'd driven in the series.

The reason why the car ended up in Germany is that these souped-up racers are illegal in the US for street use and in order to avoid having them destroyed, they were exported to a more “racer-friendly” environment.

Seeing as how the car is illegal in the United States, it's more than likely going to end up in some other part of the world, unless some millionaire with a passion for speed but also with his private racing track might nab it from the auction and bring it "home".

While the Nissan is heavily modified and is listed as having just 6,000km (3728 miles) on the clock, the price is given entirely, if not in large part, by the fact that is was driven by Paul Walker in the “Fast & Furious” series.

Because Paul Walker's tragic death is still very fresh in everyone's memory, this might not be the best time to announce such a sale. However, it is possible that some die-hard fan will consider buying it, just as a tribute to the fallen Walker. Do you think this sale is in bad taste or a genius marketing move?
