Both critics and audiences are totally in love with Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest movie, “The Master,” which is also slowly becoming a solid Oscar contender. Below are two videos with the writer / director talking about it.

The first video is of Anderson talking to Jon Stewart on The Daily Show about the writing and directing process behind his latest masterpiece, and how one can sometimes get in the way of the other.

The second shows the acclaimed writer and director on CBS’ This Morning, where he tackles an even more pressing issue, one that’s been getting a lot of media attention ever since he started working on the film: namely, the film’s connection to Scientology.

Anderson admits the story is partly inspired by the popular cult but denies he’s in any way looking to denigrate it with it. In fact, he stresses, Tom Cruise has seen the film and had nothing to object about it.

“The Master” stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams as the leads, and is now out in US theaters.

Check out the videos below to see what Anderson had to say about his latest passion project.
