Paul McCartney's record company has released five of his old albums as iPad apps. Besides the extra pictures and information on these, the fans will be happy to find that the price has been lowered from $9.99 (7.49 euro) to $7.99 (5.99 euro) per album. The original Audio version of these albums can still be purchased in iTunes

All the new apps have been published in the AppStore at the beginning of this week. You can find "Band on the Run," "McCartney II," "Wings over America," "RAM," and "McCartney" under Concord Music Group's apps.

"Band on the Run" is considered Paul McCartney's first Masterpiece after the Beatles was gone. This is the first release from the Paul McCartney Archive collection and it has all nine tracks present on the original audio album. Besides that, you can get six video clips including behind-the-scenes at the cover shoot in London's Osterley Park.

The app also includes an extensive interview with Paul and some exclusive old photos taken back then by Linda McCartney and Clive Arrowsmith. You can see how the album was made, but there's one catch. The App does not have all the music and content. You need to download it from within the app after the initial purchase.

One nice thing about these apps is that you can listen to the music in the background while you browse the photos and the stories.

"McCartney II" has the same great minimalistic design as the other four apps and it includes the original 11-track album with remastered audio and some footage from the rehearsal of the "Coming Up" track alongside a new video for "Blue Sway."

"Wings over America" is even more interesting. For the same $7.99 you get the original 28-track live album with remastered audio, a 75-minute documentary, an editorial photo book with new interviews and tour photography and a replica of the tour book full of itineraries, tour program, memorabilia and lyrics.

The last two apps are "McCartney" and "RAM" which offer the same great selection of songs, photos and video clips.

This is a rare opportunity for Paul McCartney fans to get their hands on some exclusive content. The apps are beautifully crafted and the music is at the highest quality you can get in iTunes.

Remember that the same selection of just the audio albums will cost almost twice as much.
