Again, fan-made

The “Twilight” mania has reached quotas rarely seen with any other movie franchise, and, what’s more important, it shows no signs of slowing down in any way. Quite on the contrary, it is being said, it is believed the frenzy will go in overdrive once the “New Moon” promo campaign kicks off. In the meanwhile, fans are entertaining themselves with fan-made posters.

The fact that “Twilight” has one of the strongest and most loyal online followings is no longer news, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the fans take everything regarding the franchise very seriously. The same also goes for fan-made posters which, although fakes and not endorsed by Summit Entertainment, could easily pass for the real thing – or, if they don’t, they’re at least a suitable replacement until the real posters drop, presumably sometime in the following weeks.

Just like we saw last week with Taylor Lautner and the shirtless poster of Jacob the wolf, and before that with the Robert Pattinson in Rome poster, other three new fan-made photos surfaced over the weekend. They’re nothing short of superb, fans, and not only, say on dedicated forums, and they’re meant to make all “Twilight” lovers pass the time in a more fun way until the official promo campaign kicks off. Speaking of which, since the movie will drop in theaters in November, it is believed some sort of promo material regarding it will come from Summit by the end of June or July at worst.

However, as fans and most critics are waiting patiently for “New Moon” to drop, Robert Pattinson’s latest film, “Little Ashes,” has failed to impress industry insiders, who have quickly rushed to rubbish it since release. “Little Ashes” deals with the twisted story of Salvador Dali and writer Federico Garcia Lorca, with handsome Pattinson trying – and failing, according to nay-sayers – to take on Dali, one of the most captivating and fascinating artists ever.

“[Pattinson] looks like a marionette with a few strings missing, or a rag doll in need of repair. As soon as Pattinson steps forth with Dali’s famous up-twirled mustaches pasted to his face (they look like a pair of bent centipedes huddled on his upper lip), the picture – such as it’s been up to that point – collapses. The actor is in a hopeless position. […] There’s barely a moment when you don’t feel embarrassed for Pattinson. You want to call his agent to come rescue him from this film. Or maybe just call him a new agent altogether.” Kurt Loder, movie critic for MTV, writes in a recent review. Sadly, he seems not to be the only one thinking this way.
