With new processors and graphics processing units coming out on a regular basis, it is natural for overclockers to want to see just how far the new clocks can be pushed. Such a process is, of course, dependent on a variety of system resources, but especially on the memory capabilities. Mindful of this fact, Patriot has been working on a new DDR3 solution that will allow such end-users to drive their chips over the top. The company is gearing up to soon launch the Sector 5 Series Extreme Performance DDR3 4GB kit.

The dual-channel kit is made up of two modules of 2GB.These memory modules run at the noteworthy frequency of 2250MHz and have timings of 9-9-9-27. They will enable new heights to be reached when overclocking and new scores to be attained when benchmarking, making them well suited for both hard-core performance users as well as intense gamers. All modules are individually hand-tested on the Intel P55 chipset platform.

"Our goal is to provide the hardcore enthusiast with a performance module that is actually going to perform at the specified timing with stability," Les Henry, Patriot's VP of Engineering, says. "Consumers can feel confident that what we advertise for our speeds and timing is true to the specifications. Additionally, users can expect headroom to reach faster speeds. We have been able to hit speeds over 2400MHz with these modules in our lab."

The modules will be offered as dual-channel 4GB memory kits and will have the part number PVV34G2250LLK. Of course, such a high performance brings about the need for a working cooling solution in order to keep the memory at operating temperatures. The Sector 5 Series Extreme Performance DDR3 units are, as such, "designed with an extruded aircraft-grade aluminum heat spreader."

The company did not disclose the price and availability of the product, but it is likely that the DDR3 will come out sometime during the next two weeks. More information may be found on the company's website.
