Field trips and other excursions can be really fun, but the evenings after checking into a hotel or some other housing service can be dull and dry if people don't bring along something to fill their time with.

Laptops and tablets are the obvious choice, since they can access the Internet, run games, and play music and films.

There is an easier way of bringing along such media libraries though, and it is especially convenient for those who don't have a laptop but are going to accompany someone who does.

Long story short, Patriot has unveiled the Aero mobile hard disk drive, with a capacity of 500 GB or 1 TB and Wi-fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity.

It can stream to up to 5 devices at the same time. That means that someone can watch a film on a laptop while someone else nearby does the same, or listens to music or whatever else, on their own PC / tablet / etc.

There is even WEP / WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK security installed, as well as Internet pass-through while connected.

"With the exponential growth in the sales of tablets and smartphones, consumers are taking their world mobile with the desire to carry and view more content on their portable devices," said Mike Kroll, sr. director of Product Management at Patriot.

"In regards to storage, this demands major product evolution and Patriot is on the forefront of design and innovation. With the launch of AERO, I am proud to say Patriot has the largest and most compelling mobile storage lineup; from full featured all-in-one solutions to the award winning Gauntlet Node wireless enclosure."

Patriot Aero has a USB 3.0 port for normal linking and recharging, a battery life of 6 hours (continuous streaming), and a push button that indicates battery level.

The prices of the 500 GB and 1 TB Patriot Aero HDDs are $159.99 / 122.74-159.99 Euro and $199.99 / 153.43-199.99 Euro.
