If you had any doubts about the fact that fashion as seen on screen is all-powerful and knows no limits, or if you thought that Hollywood glamor was pretty much exclusive to American cinema, think again. Great
fashion - particularly when it's conveyed via the silver screen and it's all about high-powered women making the most of their looks - is all-powerful, far-reaching and knows no borders. So much so, in fact, that Patricia Field - the artistic brains behind Carrie Bradshaw's ultra-hyped looks in SATC - is now one of the most en vogue stylists around and is being "exported" into all the corners of the world.
Field is by all means the latest fashionable serial collaborator - given that she has already designed a collection for Barbie, Payless, ASOS and styled Diet Coke bottles for Coca-Cola Great Britain. It comes as no surprise then that the latest exploits of the lady who dresses some of the cinema's top fashion icons are going global, and after conquering the UK via a Coke bottle and a lucrative deal with Britain's hugely popular retailer Marks & Spencer, Field is now ready to bring her Hollywood-styled sense of dress to Australia.
Field has just signed yet another deal with Myer, Australia's largest chain of department stores for a collection that will hit all 65 Myer stores on the continent starting October 18. The collection has been given the working title "Destination Style New York" and the line will "capture the essence of Patricia Field's fashion world as seen in The Devil Wears Prada, Ugly Betty and Cashmere Mafia", states a Myer press release. So, ladies, this is an excellent reason to start planning a trip to Australia - or if you're lucky enough to live there, prepare to make this infusion of glamorous Hollywood style work for you.
