Path of Exile, the free-to-play action role-playing game title from Grinding Gear Games, might not yet be officially out, but the team is already thinking about the future of the game and how it will be supported by yearly expansions during the next decade.

Chris Wilson, the main developer working on the game, is quoted by Joystiq as saying during the Game Developers Conference 2013 that, “we intend to do expansions over the next five to ten years.”

Apparently, a major content update will be delivered once a year and the team will also offer updates every two weeks, in order to make sure that the community is interested in the long term.

Grinding Gear Games also wants to introduce more events in Path of Exile, like the races that challenge players to speed run through certain sections of the action role-playing game under certain conditions.
