The development team at Firaxis and publisher 2K Games have announced that they are getting ready to launch a new patch for their strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which is designed to make it easier to get through the game on the Easy difficulty level.

A set of patch notes on the official forum of the game makes it clear that the changes are specifically designed for those players who have complained that it is too hard to get through the later stages of the game.

There are a number of other changes linked to the patch, including a number of game bugs connected to the interception phase, the deployment of the Skyranger and the areas that the SHIV was unable to access.

The overall connectivity for the multiplayer game modes has also been improved, something that the community will certainly appreciate.

Firaxis has also optimized the Temple Ship level in order to make sure that all soldiers are spawned correctly if the mission is restarted after clearing the second room.

The penalty for Snapshot is also being removed when a Sniper soldier goes into the Overwatch mode without moving first.

Most fans of the XCOM series recommend first playing the game on the Normal difficulty setting, but using the Ironman mode and then moving to the Classic difficulty, which will prove challenging even to veterans.

Firaxis has not yet said exactly when it will deploy the new patch for XCOM: Enemy Unknown but, considering that it has to go through certification with both Sony and Microsoft, it might take a week or two.

The developers are also planning to deploy downloadable content for their strategy game, which will include a new special Chinese character and a series of three battles that take place aboard a special UFO over the Chinese mainland.
