Ascaron and Deep Silver are announcing the release of a big content update for the role playing game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. The update is set to arrive today and will be approximately 620 MB in size. It seems that it will include a network code that will allow gamers to play against one another. When you launch the game, it will prompt you to download the patch, or you can get it from the developer's web page.

As part of the content update, players will get fresh armor, a brand new game region, which is appropriately filled with snow, 20 opponents of all levels and a lot of spectacular weapons that can be used to take them down. There are also a lot of small tweaks and fixes designed to make Sacred 2 easier to play and a new quest chain has been included, allowing players to get their hands on a festive themed set of armor.

The patch also introduces the first version of the Sacred 2 network, which is still in beta stage. The feature uses the Tincat, a very flexible multiplayer engine created by Arvato Systems, to make players pit their characters against each other. This does not mean, at this stage, one on one fights between player created characters. You can win ranks and orders within your game and then upload the information taken from the game to the Web and compare it to the info provided by other players. There are ladder classifications and high score leaderboards and the developers are creating a Heroes' Cemetery and a Hall of Fame designed to make the best characters immortal.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is a big, sprawling role playing game, which mixes a traditional fantasy setting with some unusual elements like cyborg characters and a cameo by a rock band using guitars to fight enemies.
