Users of NeoOffice 2.2.3 (myself included) can update their favorite set of office apps with a new patch from the guys at NeoOffice.org. Patch 6 fixes a problem that caused the scroll arrows not to function and a bug in Leopard where file locking on local volumes worked incorrectly.
Other tweaks are also in order.

NeoOffice is a full-featured set of office applications (including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, and database programs) developed especially for Mac OS X. The application is based on the OpenOffice.org office suite and integrates native Mac features. It has the ability to import, edit, and exchange files with other office programs.

The suite handles most Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Files, but also Excel VBA Macros. Neo 2.2.3 adds QuickTime video support (but only for Mac OS X 10.4.x and higher), with the ability to import images from scanners and cameras, for different kinds of projects. NeoOffice version 2.2.3 also brings command-clicking on window titlebar and Mac OS X Leopard grammar checking support.

NeoOffice Patch 4, released in May, put the Solver feature back into its place, as the developers fixed certain crashes that were likely to happen while using it. Patch 4 also made it possible for users to export PDFs more easily, with no missing glyphs in equations, and print envelopes without having their images cropped out. Patch 5, made available at the beginning of the month, fixed a bug where opening Office 2003 XML file produced General I/O error, fixed poor selection of Polish and Cyrillic replacement fonts, and patched a problem where landscape documents could be cropped when printing.

NeoOffice Patch 6, available for free download today, fixes the following issues:

- a problem where the presence of PostScript fonts would cause incorrect characters to be displayed.
- a bug where certain picture alignment settings could cause files printed to PDF to be huge.
- a problem where using a hidden Mac OS X setting for double arrows at both ends of the scrollbar caused the scroll arrows not to function.
- a bug where the "Export to PDF" function would incorrectly apply PDF security settings.
- an issue where resizing a Calc document during loading caused incorrect display of the document.
- a bug on Mac OS X 10.5 where file locking on local volumes worked incorrectly

NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 6 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 2.2.3, and will not install on any version of NeoOffice 2.2.2. It includes all fixes and additions of previous patches. Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later is required for Neo to work on your machine.
