Bethesda Softworks is announcing that it has released patch 1.5 for its post apocalyptic role playing game Fallout 3. The patch is set to prepare the game for the release of the last piece of DLC, called Broken Steel, which should arrive on May 5.

At the moment, you can only get this patch for the PC and the Xbox 360 versions of the game, because the PlayStation 3 port of Fallout 3 is not set to get any DLC. The patch is required for Broken Steel, so get it from Softpedia now.

The main feature of the update is to add all the new Achievements related to the Broken Steel add-on for Fallout 3. These can be obtained on both the PC and the Xbox 360 thanks to the implementation of Games for Windows Live and Xbox Live.

The patch also fixes some of the remaining bugs in the game: perks not getting the correct VATS calculations; crashes related to some game files have been eliminated; all objects from the DLC are not displayed correctly and some problems with NPC not following the player directly in some areas.

Broken Steel is very near and Bethesda is really playing up its features. The DLC pack is set to address one of the biggest requests from players - negating the original ending of the game and allowing them to play past the closing sequence.

The pack should raise the level cap from 20, which is easily reached in Fallout 3, to 30, and there are new Perks to go along with the additional levels. Broken Steel is also set to offer a new quest line, featuring the efforts of the Brotherhood of Steel to take out the remaining Enclave units, and new weapons and enemies meant to test the fighting prowess of high level players.

*DO NOT DOWNLOAD PATCH 1.5*

Patch 1.5 broke my game. Funny, 'Broken Steel', looks like this patch was more in preparation for 'Broken Game' than 'Broke Steel', if anything.

Ever since installing this lousy patch my game will CTD whenever I enter a building. Thanks Bethesda! General rule-of-thumb when downloading Bethesda-produced patches; wait at least a month or two until after they're released, to even consider downloading them. Every patch they release fixes 2 things, and breaks 10.

*DO NOT DOWNLOAD PATCH 1.5*
