Now that Bitcoin is worth a lot of money, the virtual currency has attracted the attention of scammers who hope that they can trick unsuspecting users into helping them make a profit.

According to ThreatTrack Security experts, scammers are using Pastebin pastes, YouTube videos and other websites to advertise “free Bitcoin generators.”

The YouTube videos claim there’s no need to complete any surveys to gain access to the generators. However, that’s far from being true. Those who want to get the application are advised to complete a survey or purchase a premium account in case surveys are not available in their country.

The Pastebin files found by experts instruct users to download the free Bitcoin generators from mediafire.com. The file is not a Bitcoin generator, but a Trojan.

Files advertising similar applications have also been found on MEGA. While in some cases, the cybercrooks try to convince potential victims to download Trojans, in others, they instruct users to fill in some CAPTCHA codes.

There’s no easy way to get Bitcoins, so beware of such offers if you want to avoid falling victim to some cybercriminal scheme.
