Passengers on a commuter bus in Turkey have escaped drowning by smashing windows and breaking out.

As you can see above, the bus filled up in a matter of minutes when the driver ran into a municipal water pipe line. The incident occurred in the capital city of Istanbul, at the Kemerdere Junction in Umraniye district.

According to Good Morning Turkey, nobody was severely hurt as water shot up into the bus. Three people checked in at Umraniye Training and Research Hospital with minor wounds.

The publication adds that the bus first collided with an 18-wheeler, the impact prompting a crash into the pipe. Breaking the windows allowed all the passengers to escape what would have been an odd death, by drowning while on a bus, above ground.
