An incredible effort from residents of Tokyo in Japan has saved the life of a woman stuck in a gap in a train station.

The video above shows how a crowd rallied to push a train and rescue a woman who was blocked between a car and a platform.

The train carriage weighs 32 tons (64,000 lbs) and it took dozens of passengers and guards to skew it so that she could escape. The heroic incident happened at JR Minami-Urawa station, News Australia reported.

She was lodged in a 20-cm (8-inch) space and couldn't climb out on her own. The unidentified woman in her 30s was able to break out of the gap after the carriage was pushed off her and she escaped the accident unscathed.

Oddly enough, the train only registered an eight-minute delay.
