Parted Magic 2013.11.11, an operating system that employs core programs of GParted and Parted to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful software, has been released and is available for download.

Parted Magic 2013.11.11 is considered to be a stable release and comes with a huge number of new features, not to mention a new file manager.

“The default File Manager and Desktop Manager is now PCManFM. Lots of people requested this. The desktop looks exactly the same, so there shouldn't be too much confusion. Most people probably won't even notice the difference.”

“Multiple desktops will now display two separate desktop wallpapers instead of one stretched across both screens. We feel PCManFM is also more friendly to new users and this should be a welcome change,” reads the official announcement.

Highlight of Parted Magic 2013.11.11:

• A one-click option has been added in the Network menu to install VirtualBox (only supported for the 32-bit version); • The uEFI support for CD/DVD booting has been improved; • The 64-bit and 32-bit kernel modules are now in two separate initramfs; • The Secure Erase GUI has received a lot of small improvements. Users are now able to erase ATA drives through the SAS ports and to enable all the devices; • Parted Magic now includes the Redshift GUI for people who are using the distribution at night; • All the Xorg drivers have been updated to the newest versions, and the Nouveau drivers have been upgraded to 1.0.10 to support more GPUs; • The Linux kernel has been updated to long term support version 3.10.18; • Disk Archive 2.4.10 has been implemented; • Mozilla Firefox has been upgraded to version 24.1 ESR; • Clamav has been upgraded to version 0.98.
