Patrick Verner announced earlier today, October 13th, the immediate availability of Parted Magic 5.6, an operating system for partitioning tasks. The sixth maintenance version of Parted Magic 5 comes with the newly released GParted 0.6.4 application and the latest stable version of the Linux kernel.

Beside the usual bug fixes and updated applications, Patrick Verner added the Nouveau video driver for Nvidia graphics cards. The driver can be activated at the first boot screen, from the Fail Safe menu.

Moreover, the Systester package has been added, and a default password for the root account was set, for an easy usage of the SSH protocol.
