Users must upgrade to Parsix GNU/Linux 7.5

The Parsix Project has recently announced that their Parsix GNU/Linux 7.0 (Nestor) distribution will reach the end of its life support in the coming weeks, urging users to upgrade to Parsix GNU/Linux 7.5 (Rinaldo) as soon as possible.

Dubbed Nestor, Parsix GNU/Linux 7.0 was announced by Alan Baghumian six months ago, on November 9, 2014. Since then, the distribution had a single maintenance version, Parsix GNU/Linux 7.0r1, which was introduced to users three months ago, on February 14, 2015.

Starting May 23, the Parsix GNU/Linux 7.0 distribution is about to reach EOL (End-of-Life) status, which means that it will no longer be supported with security patches, software updates, and bug fixes. As such, we can report today that support for Parsix GNU/Linux 7.0 (Nestor) will be terminated on June 14, 2015.

"Parsix GNU/Linux project is going to stop security and technical support for version 7.0 (Nestor) as of June 14, 2015," says Alan Baghumian. "We encourage everybody to upgrade their systems to Parsix GNU/Linux 7.5. If you are interested in keeping Nestor on your machines, please use Debian Wheezy updates and security repositories. Parsix 7.0 is binary compatible with Debian Wheezy."

Parsix GNU/Linux 8.0 will be dubbed Mumble

The software repositories of the Parsix GNU/Linux 7.0 distribution will go offline a few days after the operating system reaches end of life, on June 21, 2015, in order to make room for the next major release of the project, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.0, which will be dubbed Mumble.

While the development of Parsix GNU/Linux 8.0 (Mumble) will most probably start soon after Parsix GNU/Linux 7.0 reaches end of life, users of Nestor are urged to upgrade to the current stable release of the distribution, Parsix GNU/Linux 7.5r0 (Rinaldo), as soon as possible.
