Earlier today, Alan Baghumian proudly announced the immediate availability for download of the Parsix GNU/Linux 3.5 operating system. Dubbed "Frankie," the new version brings lots of updated applications, new artwork, new features and bugfixes. Parsix GNU/Linux 3.5 is synchronized with the Debian testing repos, as of April 7th, and it's powered by Linux 2.6.32.14 (with the Kon Kolivas's BFS and TuxOnIce 3.1 hibernation/suspend patches). The ability to run Parsix from a USB flash drive has also been implemented in this brand-new release, as well as an improved installer, GRUB2 boot loader (with support for EXT4 filesystems), X.Org 7.5, GNOME 2.28.2, and many more!

"This release provides a stable computing platform for your daily uses and tasks. Package repositories are synchronized with Debian testing repositories as of April 7, 2010. Frankie ISO images will not fit on CD and a DVD is required to burn them. These images are compiled using SquashFS 4.0 with LZMA compression and for the first time GRUB 2 is used as default Live-DVD boot loader. The kernel build system has been modified and improved vastly to produce better kernel packages. Our brand new Linux 2.6.32.14 kernel with improved configuration is patched using the latest TuxOnIce suspension/hibernation and Kon Kolivas's BFS patches. This version also represents our new experimental USB installer that enables users to run Parsix from USB keys and pen drives. Not forget to mention, Frankie also has a brand new spicy look and feel." - was stated in the official release announcement.
