This might be a useful gadget for day-walkers and runners. The wrist unit uses GPS satellites to track your outdoor whereabouts. Paroos G-100 GPS has a built-GPS receiver, an accelerometer, calorie burn option, thermometer, FM radio (with frequency auto-scan), 512 MB
memory stick plus USB interface cable. The thing also boasts a simple LCD screen (4 Gray, 128dots X 80 dots), ear-phone and an arm band. The thing can also play MP3 music (WAV, ASF, WMA, OGG not supported).
Paroos G-100 communicates with the GPS satellite system to know where you are at all the times. Therefore, it calculates how fast you are moving, what direction you are heading and how far into the jungle you have gone.
The 512 MB of integrated flash memory (4Mbps speed) can store up to 1,5000 runs for comparison in order to let you keep track of your progress. The device automatically saves all data for review at any time. After the data is managed by the Paroos using your PC, you will soon find out the physical condition verdict: poor, fair, average, good or superior.
The device weighs 120 g (built-in battery included) and it looks bigger than a usual training watch (10 mm X 19,5mm X 53mm). To begin a walk or run, turn it on and wait a few seconds before it "catches" the signal. Remember to set your weight if you want to estimate how many calories you will burn. The battery will surely die if you run more than 5 hours using the GPS Mode. So, if you happen to love jogging for days, just switch between modes and this thing will still accompany you.
No word on the price yet.
