Or so the heiress believes

Paris Hilton’s latest endeavor to break into the movie industry is a documentary called “Paris, Not France,” which will air on MTV on July 28. Since she was on the topic of names at the premiere that took place the other night, the heiress also revealed that Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, was actually named after her, Extra TV reports.

The most widely circulated theory until now as regards Michael Jackson’s children was that he named them after himself – the boys –, and after the capital of France, the girl. However, the blonde star seems to think differently, since she told Extra that it was actually her that inspired the late King of Pop and made him ask for permission to use the name. This was possible because Michael and Paris’ mother were close friends, the heiress says.

“My mom and Michael went to high school together and they were best friends since they were 13. So I grew up knowing Michael very well and when he had his daughter, he always loved the name Paris and grew up being an uncle to me. So he asked my mom if it was okay and of course she said yes and I think she’s such a beautiful little girl and I’m proud we have the same name.” Paris Hilton told Extra on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of her “Paris, Not France” documentary.

As it’s common knowledge by now, Paris is hardly taken seriously by people in the industry or even by fans on some occasions. Since she’s known to have uttered some of the most absurd things in the history of showbiz, the fact that she credits herself for the name of Michael’s child screams “delusional,” several US publications and gossip blogs point out. It also speaks volumes in terms of what Paris would do to get her name in the media, especially on an occasion such as this one, when the only A-listers in the crowd at the premiere were her sister Nicky and the rest of the Hilton clan.

While we’re on the topic of not taking someone too seriously, we might as well mention that jokes are already starting to pop on the Internet as to whether Paris (the Hilton, not Jackson) also believes the city in France was named after her, or whether the sun rises because she exists. Check back here for when we have an answer.
