In a recent interview, Janet Jackson left no room for doubt as to where she stood on niece Paris Jackson’s acting dreams, by saying she would rather she lived out her childhood first. Paris strongly disagrees, as she says in a recent interview with Glamour Magazine.

Michael Jackson’s only daughter is featured in this month’s issue of the magazine, in an interview in which she reveals her dreams of forging a career as an actress and who is the only person who, as of now, has shown support for it.

Paris says that, even though Janet doesn’t want to see her break into the spotlight just yet, she might still do so with some help from aunt LaToya.

“A lot of people don't want me to do it, but Aunt La Toya believes in me. She heard me play a little guitar and sing, and she started clapping, 'Oh my God, oh my God.' She really does encourage me; it's just awesome of her,” Paris says for the publication.

Wanting to be known as Paris Jackson the actress or Paris Jackson the singer one day mostly comes from a desire to not be associated with her famous father anymore.

“I love my dad, and I'm proud to be his daughter. I just don't think the title 'M.J.'s daughter' fits me,” Paris explains.

For the same reason, she will try to make it on her own, without having to use the Jackson name as a launching pad or as a ways to open doors that would otherwise remain closed.

“A lot of people think he's the only reason I'm making it, but I want to show that I do have talent and that I can make it if I try. I want to be my own person,” Paris insists.

In the same interview, she also talks about how she never wanted to fit in with her school mates and how they’d make fun of her for the same reason.

In the end, she says, she and her friend managed to weather the storm and come out with their individuality intact: “we’re not copycats,” Paris insists.

The full interview will be out with the new issue of Glamour, on newsstands tomorrow, September 11.
