Should we, like, feel sorry for her?

To put it bluntly, this has got to suck. I mean yes, I know we've heard rumors over the years about Paris Hilton, the world's favorite heiress (and blonde bombshell extraordinaire) being broke, cut out of her grandfather's will and so on - but this time it's for real and it's indeed a nightmare for the blonde socialite who - as we all know - has no particular talent and a whole lot of defects. Well, no more than the average person, I think, but since Paris has always proved to be pretty much the shallow and vain attention seeker, she only ended up creating an image of herself that's... well, not very flattering to say the least. You'll notice my efforts not to insult poor Paris or say bad things about her or call her names. Christmas time IS said to bring out the best in us after all. Or not.

Well, it looks like disaster has finally caught up with Paris, as her hotel tycoon grandfather Barron Hilton has announced that 97% of his 2.3 billion fortune is going to his father's charity - the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation - and NOT to any of his children or grandchildren (including Paris and her sister Nicky). Paris' grandfather is said to have made an immediate donation of $1.2 billion to the charity, while the rest will reportedly follow after his death. Just how much of a disaster is that for the younger generation of Hiltons? Well, they will only be left with $69 million to split between 23 grandchildren - not to mention their parents, too. Which is, after all, spare change compared to the amount of money everybody expected Paris to inherit.

I have a feeling that we don't fully understand the impact of this particular piece of news. It will most likely change everything, right? Will Paris turn into some sort of modern Cinderella, forced to work for a living, forced to give up her lush lifestyle and get a regular 9 to 5 job? No, scratch that, she's not qualified to do anything for which she could be legally paid. Will we have to stop calling her "The Hilton heiress" and instead refer to her as "the former Hilton heiress who is currently washing dishes at a Beverly Hills restaurant"?

OK, call that wishful thinking - but can you imagine a poor Paris who's not able to afford fancy clothes for her pooches and trips all over the world whenever she pleases? [Shudder] The fact is, take everything Paris has right now, sell it and buy a regular house in a Los Angeles suburb, and she'd probably have enough money to live comfortably and not do an honest day's work for the rest of her life. But could the Paris we know ever settle for that? You already know the answer. Wait - maybe that's the reason for all her silly movies and ad campaigns for canned champagne. Is Paris trying to earn her living... like, on her own? Stay tuned for all the hot news!
