Paris Hilton slams whoever came up with this fake tweet after the death of Nelson Mandela

Paris Hilton is seen as such a glitzy, airheaded blonde that, when a tweet apparently originating from her, confusing the late Nelson Mandela for Martin Luther King Jr. emerged online, everyone assumed it was legit. Well, it’s not, an angry Paris says on her Twitter.

The tweet in question, which you can also see in the image attached to this article, originated from an account called @DeletedTweets, whose main job seems to be that of trolling all celebrities and the media outlets and bloggers who can’t bother with research.

It read “RIP Nelson Mandela. Your ‘I Have a Dream” speech was so inspiring. An amazing man. <3,” and it’s worded in the same manner that Paris usually uses for her own tweets. Since she said some pretty dumb stuff since she broke into the spotlight, not few were those who thought she could have said this too.

This tweet got, at the time the screenshot was made, over 10,000 retweets and was favorited almost 3,000 times, so yes, many actually thought Paris would be able to make such a catastrophic confusion.

Her publicist, though, is appalled that anyone would think that, saying she was on board a plane at the time the alleged “confirmed” tweet was made, which she confirms herself on the social networking website.

“Just landed & heard the sad new about Nelson Mandela. He was a true Hero & the world is a better place because of him. May he rest in peace,” Paris writes.

As for whoever is behind the account from which the tweet originated, Paris has a few words for them. “Whoever made that stupid fake tweet lacks respect to the loss the world is mourning right now. Same goes for all the blogs who ran with it.”

Right now, that particular account is suspended but Buzzfeed has screenshots proving Paris wasn’t the only celebrity targeted. She was just unlucky enough to have “her” tweet go viral. Britney Spears, Tom Daley, and Beyonce also fake “tweeted” from this account.
