“The World According to Paris” is dead in the water, even if not officially just yet. After premiering to disappointing ratings and then sinking lower and lower, to the point where few were interested in the season finale, the heiress’ latest reality series will most likely not return for a second season.

Speaking of the most disappointing shows to premiere on TV in recent months, ratings-wise, Vulture mentions “The World According to Paris” on Oxygen and Roseanna Barr’s “Roseanne’s Nuts” on Lifetime.

Both shows opened to rather disappointing ratings and slipped even more with each episode; both shows will probably not return for another season, the publication writes.

Of course, the official stand on Paris’ series is that the network refuses to comment on whether there will be a new season – but it’s common sense at this point to assume that there won’t be.

“Paris Hilton and Roseanne Barr are very different personalities, but their shows both struck out with viewers. Hilton’s series was pretty much dead on arrival, earning barely 400,000 viewers for its June debut and sinking even lower in subsequent airings,” Vulture writes.

At this point, assuming that the series would be renewed for another season when there was so little interest in the first one, would be wishful thinking.

“The network isn’t officially commenting on its fate, but Vulture can exclusively report what’s been obvious to even the most amateur ratings watcher for weeks: Oxygen has no plans for a second season of ‘The World According to Paris,’ unscripted industry insiders familiar with the situation confirm,” adds the same media outlet.

This would come to confirm what voices have been saying in the press and blogosphere for months: Paris Hilton’s moment has come and gone, and there’s very little to no interest in her – as a television personality / reality star, at least.
