Paris Hilton repeatedly assured her fans that she had zero plans of not pursuing a career in music and, as it turns out, she didn’t lie. The former reality star has just signed with Lil Wayne’s Cash Money Records, founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams confirms for the LA Times.

Paris has been working on this album for over a year but it comes at a 7-year distance from her debut as a solo singer.

“She’s always supported us, and we’ve supported her. It was a friendship first. She played us music, and I was taken aback. I was impressed by her music, and I didn’t know she could sing so well,” Williams says of the decision to sign her.

He also says fans shouldn’t expect music of the kind she put out in 2006.

“It’s on the EDM side. I want to let her do what she wants as an artist. We’re going to support it,” he says.

Cash Money Records is also the label behind Nicki Minaj and Drake. The new collaboration totally explains this.
