Paris Hilton Responsible for Epidemic of Abandoned Puppies

The general consensus is that, should one be asked to describe heiress Paris Hilton in just three terms, those would be “Chihuahua,” “vapid” and “superficial.” This is not the first time that Paris has come under heavy fire for her pets, but it does mark a first when she is named as the only one responsible for the number of abandoned Chihuahuas in California animal shelters, as the San Francisco Gate informs.

Paris Hilton, America’s self-titled fantasy princess and socialite extraordinaire, is to be blamed for the epidemic of abandoned puppies, several animal rights organizations are saying. This happens because the star, famous for owning as many as 17 pet Chihuahuas at a time (thus violating the law which clearly says no non-breeder should have more than 3 pets per address), is seen as a role model by many girls, who try to emulate her in everything, including her pets.

So, girls who are not only incapable of raising a pup, but also not aware of what that entails, have taken to pet shops to get Chihuahuas. When the dogs grow up or their owners simply become bored with them, they are abandoned and end up in shelters, from where no one picks them up. And Paris is the only one responsible for this, because for so many years she has made it look like Chihuahuas are nothing but fashionable accessories that one can discard once bored with them, it is now being said.

“Chihuahuas are not a toy or a fashion accessory. But because some people think they are – then realize they’re wrong – there’s a growing problem of abandoned Chihuahuas.” Chihuahua Club of America head Lynnie Bunten tells the media. “Animal shelter bosses in Santa Barbara have now prohibited anyone under age 21 from adopting a miniature pup, after seeing a growing trend of young women dumping their full-grown dogs when they’re sick of caring for them. And activists are blaming Hilton’s menagerie of tiny animals for the problem.” the San Francisco Gate further informs.

As mentioned above, last year, Paris Hilton was under investigation after bragging to the media she had no less than 17 pet dogs, clearly violating US laws. What happened to those many pups is not yet known – what is known, though, is that they have not been seen in Paris’ company ever since.
