Paris to live thousands of years? What is going on with this world?

This is it! It's not a Star Trek fantasy, definitely not a Peter Jackson movie, not even a Matrix sequel: it's Paris Hilton, everyone, and her words are for real. Everybody's favorite hotel heiress is no longer interested in drinking till she drops - she's not even on the lookout for avoiding to step into urine and protecting herself from AIDS. No, this time, Paris' blonde brains have found a totally new (and rather more original, I admit) obsession: she wants to be frozen with her beloved pets when she dies.

And . while some people might find the idea romantic, I find it spooky. Not the "frozen with her pets" part - in some parts of our crazy universe, that might still have a chance of passing out as "sweet". No, the part that terrifies me is the idea of Paris being among the few (maybe the only one) representatives of today who might get to live for thousands of years.

Just think about it this way: what fabulous qualities can Paris possibly posses that illustrate the positive aspects of life in the early 21st century? Herpes and a set of genes including those responsible for passing alcoholism, shallowness and the desire to flash her coochie? But there's no stopping Paris when it comes to immortality, it seems: the hotel heiress is quite keen to live forever and has reportedly invested a large sum of money in the world's biggest suspended animation cemetery (yes, there is such a thing) called the Cryonics Institute.

Paris apparently wants her body to be preserved and then brought back to life, along with two of her favorite pets, her Chihuahua Tinkerbell and her new Yorkshire Terrier pet pooch Cinderella. "It's so cool. Almost all the cells in the body are still alive when death is pronounced" Paris said. "And if you're immediately cooled, you can be perfectly preserved. My life could be extended by hundreds and thousands of years".

And if you need just another sign that the end of the world is coming, here it is, again, courtesy of Paris, who declared earlier this week that her partying lifestyle left her feeling "empty inside". "Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties - it was a fantasy. But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world". Enough said. Anyone interested in migrating to the South Pole? I heard it's safe there.
