For years now, Paris Hilton has been telling the media that her blue-eyed blonde routine is nothing but an image, but the fact remains that, for many, it’s hard to distinguish between her persona and who she is in real life. As Kathy Hilton, Paris’ mom, also put it a while back, the heiress is no airheaded bimbo. In fact, she’s “dumb as a fox,” meaning she only pretends to be dumb because she knows that’s the easiest way to get what she wants, Ted Casablanca of E!’s
The Awful Truth believes.
The most solid argument for this is the fact that, no matter how many times Paris fell and, most importantly, how hard the fall was, she still managed to bounce back bigger and better than before.
Because some may still roll their eyes and call bluff on such a statement, Casablanca has prepared five reasons why Paris is “dumb like a fox,” with the first being that she knows how to work the media.
Paris is the kind of celebrity that many love to hate, so it’s almost shocking to see that, despite all the criticism, she’s still around and still getting massive coverage.
“Paris knows exactly how to keep reporters at no more than at text-message’s length. She notoriously takes journalists out to lunch every friggin’ week, and they love her for it,” Casablanca writes.
Keeping a connection all over the place is the second reason that shows just how astute Paris is. She’s never alone and always has someone to go to if the you-know-what hits the proverbial fan.
“Paris isn’t usually too messed up to at least establish some kind of connection with someone everywhere she goes. This includes clubs, bars, hotels, entire villages. That way there’s someone to protect her, or to run to, at every corner where trouble almost always lurks,” Casablanca explains.
Next up comes her “dumb” image: whatever Paris says, no matter how ridiculously dumb it sounds, she means it that way. If she has people convinced she’s not smarter than a traffic sign, she has the upper hand, the same report argues.
“Paris isn’t actually the Simple Life girl we fell in love like with all those years ago. That’s not to say that she’s a rocket scientist, but for anyone who’s met her, they know that there’s a level of, let’s say, show business that the girl puts on,” Casablanca believes.
Paris also knows how important it is to keep her game real. The report calls it “the art of reacting,” meaning, the heiress knows how to play the media to never offer a hint that she’s playing a game. Oppositely, Lindsay Lohan has no idea of how to do that.
Casablanca’s fifth and last argument is that Paris has finally learned what she’s good at and is sticking to it, thus maintaining her A-list status. And Paris is good at being a socialite.
“There was a time when Paris tried to solely emulate her famous entrepreneurial lineage, conquering the entertainment / product-placement business with cameos, biz endeavors galore, guest-hosting gigs, and even attempts to do the musician, reality star or supporting actress thang,” says the report.
“It’s been about two years since Hilton mostly stopped the efforts, and we’ve been more tolerant of her for it. However, she’s since focused on her socialite status, and that’s the only reason she got to be famous in the first place, isn’t it?” Casablanca concludes by asking.
