Hotel heiress Paris Hilton has just been subpoenaed as a witness in a criminal case.
"She's not charged with anything," District Attorney's Spokeswoman Jane Robison said on Tuesday. "She just happens to be a witness."
The case involves burglary, robbery, kidnapping and carjacking charges against Darnell Riley, 28. He allegedly broke into porn creator Joe Francis' home and tried to kidnap him. His attorney, Ronald Richards, said Riley will plead not guilty.
Paris Hilton's testimony is wanted as one of Riley's associates allegedly told her of Ridley's alleged involvement. The subpoena was given to her at the Hollywood Hills home last week.
She "will comply with the law", but "I don't see what contribution, if any, she's going to be able to make in that case," said Elliot Mintz, the spokesman of the socialite.
Being a witness in a criminal trial is surely going to be fun for Hilton, as she had never done that before. She might watch "Chicago" for inspiration and enjoy the publicity.
