Paris Hilton strikes a pose for V Magazine, insists there’s more to her than meets the eye

Many see socialite, reality star, designer and businesswoman Paris Hilton as this glitzy dumb blonde who’s always sticking to a script, even when she does the simplest things like stepping out to get groceries. It’s wrong to think of her in this light, Paris explains for V Magazine, the Transformation Issue.

To prove her point, Paris ditches her trademark style of pink clothes, girlie accessories and lots of glitter, and goes for a Goth look that also proves which is the biggest advantage to having long, straight hair: covering up your modesty.

In the accompanying interview, Paris goes to great lengths to rubbish some of the most spread misconceptions about her, like how she’s a fake, a product made especially for the camera, and how much work she has put in to build the Paris Hilton brand.

“I moved to New York when I was 15 and got invited to all those clubs and parties, and this whole socialite scene opened up for me – that’s when it all changed,” she says.

Sure, she has always liked to party, but that’s not all she is about, Paris stresses. People only believe that because of the reality show that launched her career in television, “The Simple Life,” in which she starred next to best friend Nicole Richie.

“They told me to play a character: ‘Green Acres’ meet ‘Clueless.’ It was comfortable, because I was shy and I could hide behind that persona,” she says.

She’s now starring in “The World According to Paris,” which, she promises, is more real than any other TV project she ever did.

“I get to use my real voice. I love it (the show,) because it’s showing more of the real me, as a business woman. I wanted to show what it’s like to be in my world,” Paris explains.

“There’s a lot that goes into this. It didn’t just happen. I’ve worked for fifteen years,” she says, in response to all those who claim she’s only famous because she comes from a wealthy family and, thus, can do whatever she wants.
