Paris Hilton won’t go to jail on cocaine charges after striking a deal with the DA

Paris Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and charged with cocaine possession. The heiress has just copped a plea and will walk from the case without jail time.

Paris is – or will soon be – a free and careless woman as before the arrest. The DA has decided to press charges of obstruction of justice, but, at the same time, it’s also offering the star a deal she couldn’t possibly refuse.

As E! Online can inform, Paris will plead guilty to a misdemeanor of drug possession and will walk with only a fine and probation.

The other option was to plead not guilty of felony drug possession and be liable for some serious jail time, 4 years tops. Clearly, the choice was not a hard one to make.

“The recently busted heiress has accepted a plea deal, agreeing to cop to misdemeanor drug possession and obstructing an officer in order to avoid a felony cocaine rap,” E! writes.

“Hilton will enter her guilty plea Monday and be sentenced to a year of probation, Clark County District Attorney David Roger said Friday,” the same report reveals.

“The plea agreement also entails that she complete a drug abuse program, pay a $2,000 fine and serve 200 hours of community service,” E! further explains.

In other words, if Paris is a good girl and doesn’t get into any more trouble in a year, she will be ok, Clark County District Attorney David Roger points out.

“We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future. If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble, she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center,” Mr. Roger explains.

The charge of obstruction of justice came about as prosecutors decided Paris deliberately lied when she claimed the bag from which the .08 grams of cocaine fell out the night of the arrest wasn’t hers.

It was Twitter that gave her away, as she’d bought the purse weeks before the arrest – and even bragged about it on her official page, as we also informed you at the time.

“In truth, the Defendant purchased the Chanel handbag months earlier,” the complaint said.
