Paris Hilton in court, right before entering her guilty plea on cocaine possession

Heiress Paris Hilton entered a guilty plea on possession of cocaine the other day, which allowed her to walk with just one year of probation and a fine. Still, authorities in Japan will not allow her access to the country even if it’s for business reasons.

Only hours after entering her plea in the case stemming from the August Las Vegas arrest, Paris was on a jet, headed to Japan on business.

Moments after getting off the plane, though, she learned that she was not allowed to enter the country precisely because she’d pled guilty on drug possession charges, TMZ reports.

As of this moment, Paris is staying at an airport hotel and is waiting for authorities to decide whether she can get into Japan or fly back home.

“A source close to Paris tells us she flew to Japan on business and was questioned by immigration authorities as she got off the plane. Immigration authorities are allowing Paris to stay at an airport hotel until the matter is resolved,” TMZ says.

“For her part, Paris hasn’t decided whether to stay or leave,” the same media outlet points out.

However, judging by what her rep is telling the media, Paris is contractually bound to be in Japan right now, because she has a clothing line to promote, which means it’s not really up to her to decide whether she wants to stay or not.

“Paris Hilton was delayed by immigration authorities at a Japanese airport this evening after arriving for business obligations planned many months earlier. Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn’t want to let down her brands and many Asian fans,” Hilton’s spokesperson says for TMZ, confirming the hold-up at the airport.

Be that as it may, not all is bad news for Paris – and especially her fans – since authorities may still allow her in, as such situations leave enough room for exceptions to be made.

“An employee at the Consulate-General of Japan in NYC tells TMZ... Japan is strict about letting people into the country with recent drug convictions but these matters are handled ‘on a case by case basis’,” TMZ informs.

“Paris’ rep added... she will fulfill her contract but right now things are beyond her control,” the same media outlet notes.

As we also reported, Paris was arrested in Las Vegas in August and was found in possession of .08 grams of cocaine.

For that and for telling the arresting officer that the purse containing the drugs wasn’t hers, she was charged with possession and obstruction of justice.

On each count, she was sentenced to 6 months and a $1,000 fine. If she “stays out of trouble” for a minimum of one year, Paris is home free and will never see the inside of a prison again (at least, not because of this arrest).
