Finally, someone out there wised up about Paris Hilton. Unfortunately, it's in Europe and since Paris doesn't spend too much of her time there it's not as effective as we might want it to be - but at least it's a beginning. Someone's shown some initiative in keeping the blonde heiress
who thinks you can get AIDS by stepping into pee away by deeming her not classy enough. Wait - am I dreaming? Apparently not.
And the Paris-banning pioneer is...Germany. Well, why am I not surprised? I'm sure we could all do with some more discipline when it comes to keeping darling Paris in check. Oktoberfest is a very famous, traditional German beer festival that takes place every fall in Munich, and - surprise! - Munich municipality came under heavy attack for allowing Paris to take part last year and promote a brand of canned wine.
The American heiress and homemade porn star was accused of "cheapening" last year's event. Locals are said to have been outraged when the infamous socialite arrived at the beer festival decked out in what was supposed to pass for a traditional costume, sporting plaits and traditional Bavarian dress for the purpose of advertising a brand of canned wine for a local wine producer.
The event organizers were accused of "selling out" and making the event look shabby. This year's edition of the festival kicks off this weekend, and the people of Munich wanted to make sure there was no Paris on the loose. Privately, I tend to think the STD count for Munich must also have gone dramatically up since they let Paris in. Munich tourism chief Gabriele Weishaeupl announced yesterday that celebrity promotions "are completely prohibited by the new festival rules".
So, they actually made new rules to make sure they keep fake celebrities out. Yes, some people on the other side of the Atlantic should take the hint and realize they must do something to prevent fake celebrities with no real talent and no real job from getting even more attention than they already do. I'm not worried Paris will lose too much sleep over this, though - and if she asks why she was banned, her reps can always tell her that there was going to be so much unchecked urine out there she was bound to step into it and get a few more STDs - she'll totally buy that, I'm sure.
