Paris Hilton apologizes to Lindsay Lohan for calling her a thief on her reality show

“If I were Lindsay Lohan, I would be stealing earrings, not giving them away,” socialite Paris Hilton said of her eternal archenemy Lindsay Lohan on an episode of her latest reality show. Paris is now apologizing for that.

As we also noted the other day, on a recent episode of “The World According to Paris,” the star made the above comment when a homeless woman asked her for her earrings and then mistook her for Lindsay.

Word online has it that Lindsay too got wind of the very public diss (since it was televised), telling friends she didn’t see how Paris could consider such a low blow funny.

TMZ is now reporting that Paris has publicly apologized for the insult, saying she thought it was funny at the time, but admitting that she didn’t stop to think about it too much before actually saying it.

“I apologize to Lindsay for the comment that I made. I was joking around but it was thoughtless and unnecessary,” Paris says for the aforementioned e-zine.

And Paris will not stop here either: because she wants to show Lindsay that she’s truly sorry for what she said, she’s also reaching out to her to apologize in person.

“I am reaching out to Lindsay so I can tell her myself,” Paris tells TMZ. No word yet on whether she’s already done that.

As any respectable gossip lover must already know, Paris and Lindsay go a long way back: for months, they held headlines in all the tabloids for being best friends, then enemies and friends again – over and over.

Because of them (and, later on, because of Paris and Nicole Richie’s love-hate relationship), the term “frenemy” was coined.

Speaking of coining terms, some years ago, in one of the lowest points in their relationship, Paris and Brandon Davis came up with the term “firecrotch” to refer to Lindsay. Useless to say, Lindsay was not amused.
