Paris Hilton will be released from jail (damn!) this Tuesday, and all the major TV networks are fighting over her. The 26-year-old has served 23 days out of her 45-days sentence in the Los Angeles Century Regional Detention Center, but will be released early for good behavior. As her release date was getting closer, it seemed that ABC was in the front spot to land the first post-prison interview. The ABC executives relied on the fact that Paris' mother is in good terms with veteran ABC presenter Barbara Walters, which would be the one interviewing the inmate.
But all that changed when NBC came into the picture and stole Paris all for themselves. Rumor has it that NBC Universal boss Jeff Zucker himself made a personal appeal to Paris' father, and Rick Hilton switched sides.
However, at the last minute, Larry King invited Paris on his show and the heiress expressed her personal preference for the reputed journalist. Way to go, CNN!
As far as Paris is concerned, whether ABC or NBC or CNN interview her, she would still get paid nicely, 1 million bucks to be more precise. And we were taught that crime doesn't pay.
The world can't seem to get enough of Paris Hilton, the hype revolving around her is huge, and this last commercial stunt proves me right. I mean, what could possibly be so interesting about her jail time? It's not like she has a cell mate or that she has to share the showers with other convicted women. If that were the case, hell, I would love to hear how the catfights ensued. Sadly, that's not the case.
Paris may be in prison, but you don't put the Hilton heiress in a brig like you do with the rest of the common criminals. Everything about Paris is luxurious, even her prison treatment and conditions. So what could possibly be so interesting that I would want to hear of her …"ordeal"?
My guess is that it's going to be a discussion about Paris' metamorphosis in prison, as she described it in her latest statements. How she is now reformed, how God has given her another chance and she is going to use that chance to make the world a better place. Please cut the bulls**t! I may start to believe that after I hear that Paris Hilton has donated the $1 million to charity. She sure can afford it. But she surely won't do it.
