In case the name of Capla Kesting Fine Art gallery doesn't ring a bell, maybe it will do so after you hear that it's the same art venue that also displayed the statue of a naked Britney Spears giving birth on a bearskin (called 'Moment to Pro-Life: the Birth of Sean Preston') and a bronze statuette of Suri Cruise's first caca ('Suri Cruise's Baby Poop Bronzed for Charity'). Both of these artworks were displayed at the gallery and, useless to say, they managed to create quite a stir.
Now, here comes another of these wacky and yet deeply meaningful artworks: a Paris Hilton nude corpse meant to discourage teens from drinking and driving (since prom season is not far along the way). The artist, Daniel Edwards, chose the socialite as his subject in the light of her recent DUI arrest and decided to make a statement about her life and behavior. Safe to say, Paris is gonna be pissed about this, unless she understands first that this is also a form of art. Which is very unlikely, one might add.
The statue represents Paris naked, eyes closed, cell phone in hand, a tiara on her head and her once favorite Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, on her chest. As a side note, Tinkerbell is not dead but it, too, is wearing a tiara, in the true Paris fashion. But life size sculpture goes beyond showing Paris as if dead: it is also 'equipped' with a stomach from which organs can be removed, to show those interested the effects of drinking from a 'coroner's perspective'.

David Kesting, the director of the gallery, said that the 'Paris Hilton Autopsy' is meant to show the 'disturbingly glamorized trend of Hollywood's girls gone wild', in the hope that those teens who feel the need to emulate the heiress and all her actions will be shown what can happen in case they tread the same path as her. The exhibit will go on display on May 12, 2007. Also, those who will attend the grand opening will also have the chance to participate in a contest in which the one who writes the best obituary for the heiress wins a prize.
As I've said before, it looks like picking on Paris Hilton is REALLY becoming a form of art, especially at those times when controversial artists get inspiration from her in what regards the way a role-model should NOT be like. To conclude, one more question: is the position of her body also alluding to something? Because I could think of a couple of situations when Paris would lay on her back like that, with her legs wide open...
