The heiress believes that West Africa is in fact a country

Paris Hilton may be a high school drop-out who thinks stepping into urine will give you AIDS, but she's not letting a tiny little detail stop her from sharing her own brand of wisdom with the world at large. The soon-to-be-former-heiress and party girl extraordinaire has joined her new boyfriend Benji Madden and his band Good Charlotte on their My Coke Fest World Tour, and decided it was finally a good moment [cough] for her to catch up with her inner charitable self by spending two hours in an orphanage in South Africa over the weekend. Trouble is, when Paris opened her mouth to talk about her visit, she seemed to be laboring under the delusion that West Africa was actually a country - pretty much like South Africa itself.

"I love Africa in general - South Africa and West Africa, they are both great countries", Paris stated during a press conference in Johannesburg. Yes, well, it's not like most people would have any kind of expectations from a lady who, through the years, has blessed entertainment columnists everywhere with her infinite wisdom and sense of reality. However, during her visit to Africa, Paris not only managed to impress people with her accurate knowledge of geography, but she also staged a perfect little photo shoot when she arrived to visit an orphanage armed with countless signed bikini shots of herself - which she proceeded to hand out to the kids like they were very precious gems.

On the whole, charity has proved not to be Paris Hilton's strong point, so it may be a good thing that the heiress canceled her plans to travel to Rwanda last year. The last thing the world would have needed was Paris Hilton's statements causing war in an already war-torn region - and judging by the latest evidence, it's best to keep whatever comes out of Paris' mouth as private as possible. However, it would probably have been a better idea if Paris had brought along food or money instead of signed photos. They probably would have done the kids a lot more good than the cameras. Just a thought.
