Pardus Linux Corporate 2 has been released and is now available for download. The enterprise edition of Pardus Linux puts an emphasis on stability and speed and comes with several differences from the user-oriented Pardus Linux 2011, notably the choice to use the old KDE 3.5 desktop environment over the current KDE SC 4.x.

Apart from the desktop environment though, everything else is rather up to date, with a modern Linux kernel, the latest stable version of the Firefox browser and the latest LibreOffice release.

"Pardus Corporate 2 is shipped with KDE 3.5.10 which has a good reputation for its stability and performance. All other components of the system are updated to offer a fast, comfortable and problem-free desktop experience," Ozan Çağlayan wrote in the official release announcement explaining the choice of the old desktop environment.

Highlights of Pardus Linux Corporate 2:

· Linux Kernel 2.6.35.11; · KDE Desktop Environment 3.5.10; · LibreOffice Office Suite 3.3.1.1; · Mozilla Firefox Web Browser 3.6.13; · Xorg 1.7.7; · GIMP 2.6.11; · Python 2.6.5.

Pardus Linux Corporate 2 comes straight after the release of Pardus Linux 2011, almost a month ago. Although the two Linux distros don't share a lot of packages, they're built around the same ethos.

Pardus Linux was created and is funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and is available in a variety of languages.

"The installation image includes support for all officially supported languages and exceeds the size of a CD so you have to either use a blank DVD media or a USB flash disk in order to burn and install Pardus Corporate 2 Beta on your system," the announcement noted.

Pardus Linux Corporate 2 comes in both live DVD and classic installer versions for 32-bit and 64-bit systems alike. The ISO's weigh in at around 1 GB taking CDs out of the question as an install medium.
