Gökcen Eraslan announced last night, October 21st, the immediate availability for testing of the Pardus 2011 Beta Linux-based Turkish operating system.

Pardus Linux 2011 Beta was made available as a Live and Installation images for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. It includes a revamped YALI installer with an easy-to-use user interface, HDD partitioning, and support for LVM/RAID.

KDE Software Compilation 4.5.2 is also included in the new Pardus Linux 2011 Beta, as well as a revamped boot splash powered by the Plymouth graphical boot manager.

Among other highlights of Pardus Linux 2011 Beta, we can mention:

· Linux kernel 2.6.36 RC7; · Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 8 Pre; · Chromium web browser; · LibreOffice office suite, with Turkish spell checking; · Package Manager improvements (faster updates/installs); · Package scoring and screenshot features; · Lots of bugfixes.

The following known issues are present in Pardus Linux 2011 Beta:

· There are some bugs with the HDD partition shrink option in YALI; · The time is not set correctly by YALI, sometimes; · LibreOffice start in second run.
