Parasite Eve is like a survival horror with many RPG elements, but the movement in the various environments is free. Movement in the "world map" (which is a map of Manhattan) is limited to specific destinations. Upon the player walking over a "hot spot," they enter battle mode. Enemies materialize suddenly and though there is no shift to a separate battle screen, the player is bound within a perimeter of unseen barriers until the battle is over, either by defeating all enemies or using the Escape command. In battle the player has an "Active Time Bar" (ATB) that sets the time for every turn to take action. Upon each turn the player may choose between attacking with their equipped weapon, using PE (Parasite Energy) for defense, assistance or attack, using items, changing weapon or armor, or escaping the battle. If the player chooses to attack, a dome symbolizing the range of the weapon appears. If the enemy is outside of the range, the shot is likely to fail. Even if the shot lands, the damage will be less than normal.

Glitches
Infinite Trading Cards On Day 4, in St. Francis Hospital, on your first visit in the room where you meet a nurse and a patient (just the room above the entrance), check behind the cabinet on the upper part on the room. You'll get a Trading Card, but if you keep checking you still get more Trading Cards. You can get how many Trading Cards you want. But this only works once.
Parasite Energy Regeneration When you use your Parasite Energies in battle, your PE gauge will eventually stop charging altogether, preventing you from using PEs for the rest of the battle. However, if you switch your equipped armor during battle, it will restore your PE regeneration rate to its original amount, even if it had previously stopped. Therefore, if your PE gauge is charging too slowly, or stops charging, just switch your armor while in battle to restart the regeneration. This is a handy trick against stronger enemies and bosses, where your Parasite Energies are essential to victory.
