“Paranormal Activity” is definitely the one movie that the entire industry is buzzing about right now and that’s not solely because it has officially managed to become this year’s strongest contender for the title of best (underdog) horror film. The fact that it was made with a budget of just $11,000 in the director’s own home also works in its favor, as well as in that of the two main stars, Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat.

Now appearing on the cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, the two newcomers open up about what it feels like to be part of this “Paranormal Activity” frenzy. Things have certainly changed a lot since the movie hit theaters around the world and, in the process, made horror history, but they are still a bit baffled by it. Nevertheless, since acting is all they do and know, they plan on using this opportunity to boost their career and get more offers for parts.

“I don’t have to have a job other than acting.” Featherston explains. Until recently, she was a waiter, but she decided to give that up and try to make it as an actress. For the part in “Activity,” she was initially paid $500, but she stands to take a part of the profits after the film finishes its theatrical run. “I bought a handbag [with the money]. I just have to get out there and audition and use this opportunity to the best of my advantage. I’ve been at this a long time, and I’m not gonna stop now.” she further says.

Of course, they’re already auditioning more – and for much better parts, Katie states. “Just going in the room with casting directors is a lot different. It’s like, ‘Okay, I’ve seen your work, I know what you can do. Let’s just see you in this role.’” Sloat adds. As for spending the money he’s about to get, the actor has just the right idea, saying, “I would love to have a massive party and meet all the sweaty, geeky, awesome fans who posted on the Internet and believed in the film. I just want to thank them.”

Still, getting the VIP treatment wherever they go continues to throw them off every now and then, they admit. Of course, that’s not to say they won’t be getting used to it soon.
