14 DAY TRIAL // The sequel to the critically acclaimed and commercially successful “Paranormal Activity” drops this October. For fans that are wondering about where the plot may take them now, Paramount Pictures has a series of viral videos.
As it turns out, there are at least 7 new videos making the rounds, each of them no longer than 30 seconds and offering brief glimpses into what the second film may offer in terms of plot.
As the official trailer also hinted, the “ghost” (or “demon,” more likely) from the first film seems to have moved house now and is residing with a family with a baby and a dog.
The shaky camerawork from the first film is also gone and is now replaced by surveillance cams placed all around the house, which means little can now happen without audiences knowing it.
With all these (which some fans may consider shortcomings), “PA 2” promises to be just as scary as its predecessor: there’s the silhouette of a woman who could be Katie from the first pic, there’s the baby and there is, of course, the dog.
The viral videos seem to promise more details on the plot – yet they manage to keep fans guessing by actually planting more questions, as IAmRogue notes.
“These little fifteen second glimpses at the movie have a whole lot of fans asking just what the hell is going on here. Yet more importantly, how much sleep are we going to lose this time around?” the e-zine asks.
“What happened to this woman and what is with that baby wandering around the house? Come October 22nd, many of us will find out what all of this means,” the same publication notes.
Entertainment Weekly too praises Paramount for putting together this awesome viral campaign – and hopes the film will live up to the hype it’s helping build.
“The videos shed a flicker of light on the actual plot – and possibly confirm my worst fears that it’s all about a poor, helpless baby who gets tormented by a demon. How am I going to make it through this movie?” EW asks.
