Paramount has acquired film rights to A.J. Jacobs' "The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Obey the Bible As Literally As Possible".
The company has already set it up at Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, according to Variety.
Alli Shearmur, co-president of production, and Pam Abdy, senior VP of production, will be the Paramount executives on the project.
The book by the Know it All author, recounting his attempt to follow every rule in the Old and New Testaments, from the Ten Commandments right on down to growing a beard, was given to Geoff Kloske at Simon & Schuster, in a significant deal, for publication in the fall of 2006, by Sloan Harris at ICM.
Jacob's book "The Know-it-all: One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World," which involves his year of reading the entire Encyclopedia, is also addperd for the big screen. The movie will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.
