The team at Paradox Interactive that will handle both marketing and distribution duties of the upcoming Pillars of Eternity says that it has a new interesting idea on how to promote the upcoming old-school role-playing title from Obsidian.

Fredrik Wester, the chief executive officer of the publisher, tells Rock, Paper, Shotgun that “We adjust, obviously, the marketing budget, or the whole marketing plan, around what the game has to offer. We haven’t decided on the touch we’re going to give Pillars of Eternity. Of course we’re going to talk to Obsidian first about that.”

During the Game Developers Conference, the company picked up an award for best gameplay trailer for its promotional video of Leviathan Warships, which mixed complex naval battles with some cool jazz tunes.

The executive explains that the budget for the entire production was 500 dollars (360 Euro) and that and managed to make the product known to a large group of gamers

Western adds that his company is very proud to be able to handle marketing and distribution duties for Pillars of Eternity.

He explains that, “We’re big fans. It takes us to the next level as a publisher. We show that we can not only provide smaller projects from smaller developers, but help companies like Obsidian as well, to hopefully succeed in this niche of the market they’ve cut out.”

Apparently, ten of the most important people inside Paradox Interactive have already backed the video game from Obsidian and Wester says they plan to talk to the development team as much as possible making any decisions about promotional efforts.

Feargus Urquhart, one of the leaders of the development team, says that the partnership that was announced during GDC 2014 will be beneficial to the long-term prospects of Pillars of Eternity.

The two companies have explained that those who have already backed the game will not be affected in any way by the recently announced deal.

Pillars of Eternity is a party-based old-school title that will allow gamers to explore a complex new world, based on fantasy elements but with a new Obsidian twist, and to fight tactical-driven battles.

Those who have made the title a reality can talk directly to the development team and offer feedback on the current state of the project.

Launch should take place on the PC before the end of the year.
