Johan Andersson, the studio manager at Paradox Development Studio, says that the modding community and its creations are very important to his company and titles like Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV.

He tells SpaceSector that, “There are plenty of excellent mods and I think that above all, they also make gamers discover our games that think that sandbox strategy isn’t their cup of tea. Then they find a mod on a theme they enjoy and can relate to, and it makes them fall in love with strategy games.”

One of the most popular mods for CK II is based on Game of Thrones and allows players to take control of almost any character from the fantasy universe.

Both grand strategy titles are set to get expansions in spring, Rajas of India and Wealth of Nations, respectively, which are designed to expand gameplay and modding opportunities.
