Paradox Interactive is not the biggest of the video game publishers but the company has managed to make a name of itself creating a number of hard to learn but very satisfying strategy games and is now looking to branch out from that space and try out some new genre in 2012.

The publisher will start the year by launching the Neocore Games developed King Arthur II – The Role-playing Wargame, a title that mixes turn a based strategy layer with close up and real time battles, allowing the player to decide the fate of a world that mixes fantasy elements and some of the history of Britain just after the retreat of the Roman legions and before the rise of local kings.

We have a Quick Look at King Arthur II up and we’ll have more on the game once it is launched.

The next big release from Paradox Interactive will be the digital expansion A House Divided for Victoria II, which is set to arrive on January 24 and will allow gamers to get an updated version of the game, with more of the focus on the American Civil War and the internal politics of nations all around the game world.

There are also more general fixes linked to the way the world economy works and to how the various citizen categories evolve.

The game that most Paradox fans will be waiting for is Crusader Kings II, which is currently slated for t a February 7 launch both digitally and as a physical package, a game that focuses on dynasties and on personal ambition more than on countries and creates very exciting narratives.

During the first quarter of 2011 the publisher also plans to launch Defenders of Ardania, it’s first foray into the world of PSN and XBLA publishimg, and also the historical reimagining Gettysburg: Armored Warfare and a collection of the various Mount & Blade titles.
