The main focus of the developers remains linked to grand strategy on the PC

Fredrick Wester, the chief executive officer of Paradox Interactive, says that his company is currently working on both home console and mobile gaming projects in order to make sure that it remains relevant in the future and delivers the kind of experiences its fans are asking for.

He is quoted by Gamasutra as saying that “We're going to do a lot of mobile stuff with Android and iOS. We're also going to do next-gen consoles, but more as a test to begin with and see if it works out or not.”

The CEO says that both Microsoft, the creator of the Xbox One, and Sony, the maker of the PlayStation 4, have approached the company in order to bring some of its most successful titles to the next generation of hardware.

He adds, “We haven't really had an approach on how to do a really complex, engrossing mobile game. We hired some people who have mobile experience and we're starting to get there. I don't want to be the game you play for five minutes on your commute, I want to be the game you play for five hours when you fly between New York and LA.”

Wester also claims that Paradox has no plans to move completely towards the console and the mobile sector and that its core teams will continue to remain focused on the PC and on the traditional grand strategy experiences that it has become known for.

The company has not yet announced any official console or mobile title, but it seems that progress has been solid, so a reveal could be coming in the next few months.

A good candidate for a port to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 is Runemaster, the action role-playing title with tactical elements that is set to be launched this year.

The game uses the Norse mythology to deliver a single-player campaign that will take about 100 hours to complete and is designed to be endlessly replayable, with six races to choose from and events that change the entire progress of the narrative.

At the same time, Paradox Interactive is also working on an expansion called Rajas of Indie for Crusader Kings II, which will expand the map and deliver new mechanics, and Wealth of Nations for Europa Universalis IV.

Hearts of Iron IV is also in development, set to be launched in the first few months of next year.
